What is Dilaudid?
Dilaudid, the most popular brand name for the drug Hydromorphone, is a prescription medication most commonly used to treat severe or chronic pain. It is classified as a synthetic opioid, which makes it similar to other prescription painkillers like oxycodone and methadone. Dilaudid is morphine-derived and is 5 to 10 times stronger than morphine. Its strength and fast activation makes it dangerous and addictive when misused.
Other common names for drugs containing hydromorphone include:
- Hydal
- Dimorphone
- Sophidone LP
- Hydrostat
- Hydromorfan/Hydromorphan
- Laudicon
- Opidol
- Palladone
- Hydromorph Contin
- Exalgo
